- Software that converts a resume laid out for human eyes into structured data — separate fields for each employer, date range, skill and qualification. Applicant tracking systems do this to every application they receive, and they discard whatever they cannot parse.
- Why does HyreMe read the page instead of the PDF text layer?
- Because PDF text layers lie. LinkedIn's own resume export decodes the “ti” ligature to the wrong letter, turning “Creative Marketing” into “CreaBve MarkeBng” — invisible to you, fatal to a keyword scan. HyreMe renders each page and reads the pixels instead.

“CreaBve MarkeBng” and other reasons not to trust a PDF's text layer
Most tools pull text straight out of a PDF's internal text layer. It is fast, and on a broken file it is wrong in ways that are hard to spot.
LinkedIn's own resume export is a well-known offender: its character map decodes the ti ligature to the wrong letter, so “Creative Marketing” arrives as “CreaBve MarkeBng”. Every keyword in that line is now invisible to a scorer, and you would never know from looking at the PDF.
HyreMe renders each page to an image and reads the pixels, exactly as a person would. Broken encodings, unusual fonts and odd export pipelines stop mattering, because it never consults the encoding in the first place.

Is my resume uploaded anywhere?
The file itself never leaves your computer. The text read from it is sent to HyreMe's built-in AI connection, because that is what turns it into a structured profile — and nothing else about it is stored on our side. The profile, the resume text and every document come back to your own application data folder.
What if the parser gets something wrong?
Fix it. Every field is a normal editable input and changes save as you move off each field. Extraction is a head start, not a verdict.
Can I start from scratch instead of uploading?
Yes — the profile form works whether or not a file was ever uploaded. You will get more out of Score-up with an uploaded resume, though, because the verification checks compare rewrites against that original text.
Does uploading a new resume delete my edits?
Building from a new file rebuilds the profile from scratch, so yes — the edits from the previous build are replaced. Download the PDF of anything you want to keep first.
